Damn, I knew I should've gotten up to watch the competition!
But when I woke up it was snowing (a lot and I bet it was windy too) and I would’ve needed to cycle 5 km to see the competition (THANK YOU MAIKKARI and your payment channels!), and I didn’t bother. I decided to lay in bed and stare at the ceiling.
When Seb chose to thank Tommi after his 2nd WDC, maybe he already knew that Tommi was leaving and was in fact trying to convince Tommi to stay. Maybe Seb was trying to tell him how important he was to him.
That message was not really for us, was it? It was really for Tommi only. But I guess it wasn’t enough. Tommi missed his family and Finland. Can’t blame him. He has his life to live. He has his own dreams to pursue.
Well good luck Tommi. Thanks for all that you have given to Seb and for being so nice to your fans. Thanks for taking the time to send me that message in Monaco and for your kind words.
Whatever you do, good luck and I hope you will be very happy. :)
This article (sorry, in Finnish only) says Tommi told Seb after he had won his second title. So I don’t think that Seb knew it when he said those things. Because I don’t think that the first thing Tommi said to Seb was “well done, Seb, btw I will be leaving after this year”. So no convincing, it came spontaneously from his heart. And that’s why we love Seb :)
Look, i’m just as upset as anyone, he is a wonderful, talented person and i’m very sad to see him go. But he wants to go, he’s obviously found what he wants to do and who knows, he could return in the future.
So no, he didn’t betray anyone, he’s simply doing what he wants to do in life. I’m pretty sure Seb will be very sad to lose him but i’m certain they will remain friends.
So don’t be his biggest fan one minute and then ‘hate’ him the next for leaving. That’s just pointless and it makes you look incredibly immature and childish.
